Enhancing the dignity and quality of life
Latinx Technology and Community Center in Flint works to enhance the dignity and quality of life for the Flint & Genesee County Latinx community and other cultures. Latinx is located in Flint’s East Side and serves a community whose need for clean water has been overlooked. Because the language and cultural barriers of the Latinx community were not addressed by the city during the Water Crisis, many residents were uninformed about the danger or their options. Latinx was able to engage in some outreach and water distribution, but the funds for this activity were soon exhausted.

By partnering with Latinx for our fourth Water Box we are taking on the challenges of bringing clean water to communities with language and cultural barriers. Latinx will distribute water from The Water Box in conjunction with a co-located weekly food bank and on Saturdays. Through our collaboration with Latinx, we are learning ways to engage a broader community about water health and safety that will improve our expanding program. The Water Box at Latinx was made possible with a donation from the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation. WJSFF is a non-profit organization created by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith
to improve lives and uplift humanity, with a vision to create a world in which every person is inspired to bravely explore and discover their inner possibility. Over the last two decades, WJSFF has invested millions to accelerate the growth of initiatives that focus on deepening individual and collective empowerment.
